Judo United is an organization where the spirit of judo merges with community and excellence. Founded in 2023 by lifelong Judoka and former National and Pan American Judo champion Chuck Jefferson, Judo United was created out of a passion for the art and a commitment to elevating the judo experience for all participants.
Chuck Jefferson’s deep connection to judo is rooted in the prestigious San Jose State University (SJSU) Judo program, where he not only graduated but also served as a coach for almost eight years under the guidance of the legendary Yosh Uchida. Jefferson’s experience as both an athlete and coach in one of the most storied judo programs in the country has shaped his vision for Judo United, infusing it with the same dedication to excellence, discipline, and community that he learned at SJSU.
Our flagship events, such as the prestigious San Jose Open, the Champions Cup, and various training camps, provide athletes with a unique platform to showcase their skills, learn from top-tier talent, and foster meaningful connections within the judo community.
Drawing on more than a decade of success in the judo business, Chuck Jefferson has built CJ Judo in San Jose into one of the most successful dojos in the country. The lessons learned from this journey—ranging from community-building to event execution—are now being applied to Judo United. By leveraging his experience, Judo United is setting a new standard for judo events, ensuring participants enjoy a world-class experience.
